Colville High closes in on NEA tennis title

Colville High can clinch the outright Northeast A League girl’s tennis title on Tuesday with a win on the home courts over Freeman. That match gets started at 4:30 p.m.
The Indians will close out the regular season at Deer Park on Thursday (3:30 p.m.).
It would take a very unlikely two NEA losses this week for second place Lakeside to slide in the back door and tie the Indians for the championship. The Eagles and Indians shared the 2015 NEA title.
“We would tie for first place if we lost both matches this week,” conceded CHS head coach Phil Johnson. “Hopefully that will not happen and we will have the top spot to ourselves.”
Count on that.
The District 7 1A Tournament will be held May 13-14.
