Colville softball team headed back to State

A third seed isn’t the number Colville High (19-2) had in mind after winning a co-Northeast A League softball championship (with Lakeside) this spring, but that was good enough for the Indians to get into the 16-team State 1A Softball Tournament field Friday and Saturday at Richland’s Columbia Playfields.
The Indians played host to a District 7 1A Tournament on Friday afternoon that was moved up a day because of the threat of rain. Friday’s rescheduled tournament at Vaagen Park stayed dry and after losing their semifinal opener to resurgent Deer Park, 6-2, in a seventh inning meltdown, the Indians rebounded to secure a State trip with an 8-2 win over rival Chewelah.
