The best singles player to ever play tennis for Colville High School replicated last year’s fourth place State 1A Tennis Tournament finish.
Senior Darby Fox won three out of her four singles matches at the Yakima Tennis Center last weekend to annex fourth place and put a fitting cap on an outstanding high school tennis career.
She was the Indians’ lone representative at State.
“This state tournament was a lot like last year’s,” CHS coach Phil Johnson said. “Darby had to battle to win three out of four matches once again in her quest for a medal. She won three out of those four. Two of them went three sets.
“Darby has clearly earned the reputation as the greatest singles player ever to represent Colville.”

Forest Ridge won the girl’s team title with 27 points to outdistance second place Cascade (16) and third place LaSalle (15 points).
Colville finished tied for seventh with Overlake (eight points).
Last year’s singles’ champion, Sasha Cayward of Forest Ridge, lost the finale to Agye Mintah of Annie Wright.
In doubles, the team of Annie Hines and Christina Chai downed Okanogan’s Megan Patrick and Shelby Walker, 6-3, 5-7, 6-3.
On the boy’s side, Charles Wright Academy won the team title with 19 points. LaSalle was second with 13 points and Bear Creek and Seattle Academy tied for third with 11 points.
Deer Park’s boy’s finished tied for seventh with eight points.
