Donna Palm

Donna jean (Schoppe) Palm passed away on Jan. 8, 2013 in Lacey. She was born December 1932 at home in Olympia. The family will hold a celebration of her life on July 20 at around 4 p.m. at one of their most memorable locations, Haags Cove. They will be camping there all weekend, so please come by and share your memories of this beloved lady with them. Donna married the love of her life, Jack Palm, in 1958. Together they had a large brood. They had five boys and three girls, plus numerous children who called her mom! The couple moved to Kettle Falls in 1969 where they raised their family. Donna’s love of family, gardening, feeding her “pet” deer out of the dining room window and cheering for her favorite sports teams kept her busy. She loved to fish; opening day at Lake Ellen was the highlight of her spring. Christmas was always a blowout where everyone was welcome. It was a magical day for all! Donna was an active person until a stroke in 1998 made it difficult for her to do the activities she loved. She was a character, and loved to go dancing at the Eagles and listen to Jack sing. Her cooking, (especially the homemade bread), gardening and canning were legendary. She would be pleased to know we thought so. Her legacy will be held true in the kitchens and gardens throughout the family! Donna is survived by her husband, Jack Palm, at their residence in Tenino; her children, Sheryl Letourneau and boyfriend Terry, Bellevue, Idaho; Gary Palm, Redding, California, Don Palm and wife Kris, Colville; Ron Palm and girlfriend Jodi, Tenino; Tracy Palm and boyfriend Lance, Spokane; and Ryan Palm and wife Roxy, Rainier; brother, Malcolm Schoppe, Albuquerque, New Mexico; sister, Patricia Sosa, Renton; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and in-laws that remain family forever. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Malcolm E. Schoppe Sr. and Claudia Maze, as well as her brothers Richard Schoppe, Ted Maze and Bill Maze. Sadly, Donna was also preceded by her children, Judy Palm in 2009, and Melvin Palm in 2012.
