Friends’ photo contest in full swing

The Little Pend Oreille National Wildlife Refuge, just a few miles east of Colville, protects and maintains many species of plants and animals native to our region. The refuge is also open for many outdoor activities, such as camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, kayaking and generally communing with nature.

To help publicize the Wildlife Refuge, the Friends of the Little Pend Oreille National Wildlife Refuge want to encourage all nature photographers to participate in this year’s 12th annual photo contest. This year’s contest began on August 16, 2016 and continues until August 15, 2017.

Roads on the Refuge open April 15 so there are plenty of opportunities on the 40,198-acre refuge for taking pictures.

As in past years, we are looking for entries in four categories: animals, plants, human use, and scenic. If interested, contact Joel Anderson at for rules and entry forms.
