A sexual abuse victim advocate highlighted the annual Wo+men Luncheon last Friday.
Speaker Abby Honold shared her experience as a survivor of sexual abuse in her keynote address before a full house.
The program started with public thank yous to the Rural Resources team and all of the county offices for all of the work that they have done to combat and deal with domsetic abuse in the area.
Then Honold spoke openly to the crowded room about her difficult experience bringing her rapist to conviction.
“This is the most people I’ve ever seen show up for an advocacy function,” Honold said.
She said that the community is blessed to have so many resources engaged in combatting abuse and healing victims.
