Indians will
be up-tempo

Former boys and girl’s basketball coach John Foulkes has returned to the helm of the Colville High girl’s basketball program. He succeeds interim coach Jill Palmer (6-16 overall and 4-10 in the Northeast A League last season).
As is usually the case with CHS girl’s basketball teams, the Indians don’t have a whole lot of size in the frontcourt. Where the Indians have some vertical is in the backcourt.
To help combat some lack of experience issues and create some excitement, Foulkes, who has coached girls and boys basketball teams for 22 years, plans to play things decidedly up-tempo with some holdover talent from last season and personnel from a junior varsity squad that went 18-2 last season.

Playing fast

“We want to be entertaining and bring back the fans,” Foulkes said of his plans for 2016-2017. “We’ve got some athleticism, and we’re kind of lanky (at least in the backcourt). We will definitely increase tempo from what the kids are used to, shoot a lot of perimeter shots. We just aren’t in the position to play people toe-to-toe.”
“It might look a little disorganized out there,” admitted Foulkes, but “there is an organized plan in place even though it might look more like organized chaos…we are learning and it’s going to take awhile to get comfortable.”
