The Jenkins High boys’ basketball team ran its winning streak to three games with an important victory over Riverside before having it stopped at Northeast A champion Freeman.
The victory over Riverside was big for the Cougars--it was not only the fourth league victory of the season for JHS, it also put them in sixth place after a Deer Park loss.
The Cougars now sit at 5-14 overall and 4-9 in the NEA. With one game remaining on Tuesday, Chewelah controls its own playoff destiny.
The Cougars finish up the regular season Tuesday, hosting Newport (12-7, 7-6). The game will tip off at 7:30 p.m.
Chewelah’s opening round game in the NEA District tournament will be a loser-out contest on Friday at 6 p.m. at either Medical Lake or at Newport.
