Marjorie Rose Jolley

Marjorie Rose Jolley, a 33-year resident of Colville, passed away on Oct. 12, 2011 in Colville at the age of 76. Marjorie was born on Jan. 31, 1935 at Inchelium, the daughter of Ervin Charles and Violet Marie (Moomaw) Peone. As a young girl, Marjorie resided with her family in Inchelium, where she began grade school. She continued her education as her family relocated first to Tonasket and then to Oroville in the mid-1940s. Marjorie would often spend her summers at the home of her grandparents in Inchelium. She left school at an early age and began working in the orchards and packing houses around Oroville. At the age of 17, Marjorie met and married James Everett Jolley. They began their family while residing in Oroville and moved to Inchelium in 1968. While in Inchelium, Marjorie worked for five years with the Colville Confederated Tribe before returning home to her beloved role as homemaker. In 1978, Marjorie and Everett divorced. Marjorie moved to Colville, where she worked for a time as a model, a bartender at Murphy’s Restaurant and as a local musician. She later married Keith Poirier and enjoyed traveling with him throughout Washington, Montana and Idaho. Marjorie remained in Colville following the dissolution of their marriage in 1995. She then enjoyed traveling, snow-birding to Yuma, AZ for eleven years, crafting, camping and sharing time with her family.Marjorie was a gifted musician and played a multitude on instruments, including guitar, bass, piano and banjo. She sang lead vocals at many local nursing homes, bars and dances. She had an incredible work ethic and spent countless hours making mandalas, moccasins, weaving baskets, tanning hides, beading and picking night crawlers to support her family. Marjorie always took time to tend to the needs of her family. She will be remembered for her strength of character, supportive nature and love of family.She was preceded in death by her mother, Violet; by her father, Manny Peone, and by a brother, Erval.Marjorie is survived by her seven children: Judy Todd and husband, Bob, Colbert; Ken Jolley and wife, Debbie, Kettle Falls; Linda Phipps and husband, Dwayne, Colville; Jim Jolley and wife, Bev, Inchelium; Gene Jolley and wife, Diana, Kettle Falls; Debbie Oden, Spokane; Dan Jolley and wife, Kathy, Colville; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; siblings, Lorraine Hood, Kettle Falls; Elaine Bicknell, Spokane; Ron Eshom, Inchelium; Don Eshom, Kettle Falls; Marvin Eshom, Inchelium; Yvonne Eshom, Everett; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Roberta, Everett, Billy, John, Joe, Renee and Rebecca. The funeral service for Marjorie R. Jolley was held October, 15 at the Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville. Graveside service and vault interment followed at the Hall Creek Cemetery in Inche¬lium.
