Nunsense auditions at Woodland Theatre

Woodland Theatre Productions in Kettle Falls is holding auditions for the musical Nunsense. Nunsense is a musical comedy written by Dan Goggin in 1985. Auditions will be Saturday Aug. 24 at 10 a.m. at Woodland Theatre. "This show masks as a hilarious variety show put on by these five nuns,” explains di¬rector George Eberth. “It’s an off Broadway favorite and you really have to be made of stone not to laugh at it.” The plot revolves around an unfortunate convent cooking accident that causes most of the order of the Little Sisters of Hoboken to die of botulism. Before all of the deceased sisters can be buried, Reverend Mother Superior mistakenly buys digital entertainment equipment for the convent - resulting in not having enough money to bury the four remaining sisters. In order to raise money to bury the four dead sisters, the Little Sisters of Hoboken (what's left of them) put on a rowdy revue packed with hilarious song and dance numbers. The cast calls for five women. For those auditioning, there is some preparation required. “If you are interested in a role you are asked to prepare the song that we will provide, called Growing Up Catholic,” says Eberth. To obtain a copy of this sheet music, or for more information, visit website or e-mail, or call Nancy Christopher at 684-6811. Those auditioning will also be asked to read from a script and act out small parts of it, to sing with a group, and do an ensemble movement routine. All those who are cast will also be a part of the production team, and will help with publicity, cleaning, posters and such. If you are unable to audition at these dates please call (935-6325) or contact the director by email at to make other arrangements. Rehearsal times will be posted at auditions and show dates will be October 25, 26, 27 and November 1, 2, and 3. Bring a list of your known conflicts to the auditions.
