Power outages update Nov. 18

In Stevens County there are currently 131 power outages with over 3,270 Avista customers effected due to the high winds on Nov. 17, according to Avista Utilities. There is no estimated restoration time, but Avista crew members are working to assess and restore downed power lines. If you see a downed power line, please call 911.

Update 10 a.m.: There are 316 residents in Colville without power, 360 residents in Kettle Falls and 8 residents confirmed without power in Chewelah.

Update 10:30 a.m.: The Colville US Post Office has no out going mail from Spokane today, Nov. 18, due to a roof cave in at the mail plant in Spokane. There is local out going mail and mail is still being received.

Update 2 p.m.: Avista reported it could take anywhere from three to five days for power to be restored to the majority of customers. According to Avista, this is the largest crisis they've experienced in the company's 126 year history.

Update 2:30 p.m.: Avista will be holding a meeting at 3 p.m. and will come out with another update at 5 p.m.

Update 5 p.m.: Avista has restored power to 45,000 customers. There are still 136,500 customers reported to be without power. Based on current assessments, Avista still expects it'll take 3 to 5 days to restore power to the majority of its customers.
