Sophia Mullins

Sophia Marie Mullins, a miracle shared with her family for only a year-and-one-month, slipped quietly away on April 6, 2013 in Spokane. Sophia was born on Feb. 23, 2012 in Spokane, the daughter of Bobby A. and Erica E. (Payne) Mullins.Sophia had an inspiring will to fight each day in hope of experiencing tomorrow. She knew not of her diagnosis of Trisomy 18 Unbalance, what she knew was the love she received from her family. Her first smile was a gift shared between her three-year-old sister, Emma, and herself. Sophia loved the soft rub of her cheek and she often “talked” up a storm, in her own language, when she had something to share. Tummy time and freshly cleaned britches were some of her favorite moments. Sophia’s giggle from a gentle tickle and her beautiful smile brought hope and joy to those in her presence. Sophia taught her family to grasp each moment and cherish it for all its treasure. Sophia brightened the lives of her mother, Erica Payne, Colville; her father, Bobby Mullins, Colville; sister, Emma Mullins, Colville; grandparents, Angie Denney, Colville; Charles Payne, Walla Walla; Patti Lee Tinney, Colville; great- grandparents, Shelly Mayer, Colville; Todd Johnson, Colville; Marla and Tommy Payne, Kettle Falls; uncle, Anthony Payne, Colville; and aunt, Rachel Payne, Colville. A memorial service for Ms. Sophia Marie Mullins was held April 15 at the Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville. Pastor Shane Moffitt officiated.
