Saturday is the annual running of the Tiger Triathlon. The popular event, which will celebrate its 26th anniversary, will get underway on Friday, July 15 with the annual pasta feed from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Colville High School cafeteria. Packet pick-up for contestants will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at CHS. Registration on race day (Saturday) will be from 6 to 7:30 a.m. at Beaver Lodge on the Little Pend Oreille Lakes. The pre-race briefing is scheduled for 7:45 a.m. at Gillette Lake. The start of the 26th annual Tiger-Tri, underwritten by the Colville Recreation Department, will be promptly at 8 a.m. Triathletes will leave the water for a mostly downhill bike ride west along Highway 20 to the lower parking lot at Colville High School. The third and final leg will be a run around Rotary/Dominion Trail. Awards’ ceremony is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. at the finish line at CHS (football field/track). The shuttle bus back to the lake will leave from CHS at 12:15 p.m. The race is now referred to as the Deborah Rarrick Tiger Tri in honor and in memory of Colville’s one-time mayor and recreation department head who was a devoted advocate of the local triathlon and competed in the event.
