Larry Herman Guenther

Larry Herman Guenther, age 86, a longtime resident of Colville, WA passed away on July 22, 2026 in Spokane, WA. Larry was born on January 10, 1940 in Bancroft, Maine the son of Wendell and Josephine (Hassman) Guenther. Larry graduated from White Sulphur Springs High School in Montana and then continued his education at Kinman Business College in Spokane, WA for accounting. 

In December of 1961, he married Nancy Lander and they had two girls, Velinda and Naomi. Larry served in the U.S. Army from 1962 through 1964. He and Nancy later divorced. Larry spent the majority of his career in the Timber Industry. He spent 30 years as an accountant in the Timber Industry and the last 12 years as the Plant Superintendent at the Stimson Lumber mill in Arden, WA. In June of 2004, Larry married the JOY of his life, Betsy Inman. 

Together, the two of them went on many great adventures from Trap shooting, to Safaris, to fishing in Alaska and hunting in Africa. They traveled the world seeing nature, fishing, going on cruises and watching the PBR in Vegas. Nothing was off limits. They enjoyed fantastic times with friends, and living their life at “the Cabin” on Thomas Lake, where Larry became very handy chopping wood and running a snowblower. 

They spent many evenings sipping “Dickhead Red” wine on their deck, taking in the views of the lake, watching nature, and counting their blessings. Larry was a stoic, no nonsense guy…. UNTIL you got to really know him. He had a great sense of humor, loved a good belly laugh, and took great joy in meeting with friends, golfing with “The Dickheads”, and being very active in life. 

He developed Parkinsons several years ago which greatly slowed his adventures and was very hard on his spirit. He took a great interest in his grandson, Danny DePaulo. He had several “wrestling sessions: with Danny when he was little, even breaking Betsy’s brand-new couch, which did not make her very happy. He was so proud of Danny’s accomplishments and didn’t hesitate to tell anyone who would listen. Larry was active in the community and President of the Kettle Falls Gun Club for 3 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betsy Inman Guenther, his parents, Wendell and Josephine Guenther, his daughters, Velinda and Naomi, and his brother, Jim. Larry is survived by his step-daughter, Kris (Chad) DePaulo; grandsons, Dan DePaulo and Andrew (Nichole) Fugier; great granddaughters, Kate and Luna Fugier; step-son, Eric Inman; nephews, Kelly and Kurt Guenter; niece, Gayla Guenther; as well as his very close friends, Larry and Babby Inman and George and Sandy Lander. 

The graveside service and vault interment will begin at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 13, 2026 at the Mountain View Park Cemetery in Colville, WA. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Spokane Hospice House South, 367 E 7th Ave., Spokane, WA 99202- 1301.
