Kettle Falls baseball fell in a home doubleheader against Northwest Christian on Saturday, dropping a 1-0 pitcher’s duel in the opener before falling 11-2 in the second game.
The two losses moved the Bulldogs to 3-9 overall on the season.
Kettle Falls was right in the opener from start to finish, but Northwest Christian pushed across the game’s only run in the fourth inning and made it stand. The Bulldogs were limited to two hits, one each from Cody Adams and Shaiden Brown.
Even in the loss, Kettle Falls got a strong effort on the mound. Adams worked five innings and allowed just one hit and one unearned run while striking out eight. Danny Searson threw the final two innings and did not allow a hit, striking out two.
Northwest Christian’s Drew Bevan and Chase Mortlock combined on the shutout, holding Kettle Falls scoreless despite six Bulldogs walks.
The nightcap turned in the middle innings. Kettle Falls trailed just 2-0 after three innings, but Northwest Christian broke the game open with a six-run fourth and added three more in the fifth on the way to the 11-2 win.
Adams and Searson each drove in a run for the Bulldogs in the second game. Searson and Zander Johnson both collected hits.
Johnson took the loss after working the first three innings; Searson and Joseph Young followed in relief.
