The KIPS Gymnastics team out of Colville has been on the move the past several weeks, traveling from Florida to regional competitions in Idaho and Spokane – and bringing home state qualifications, team trophies, and a long list of podium finishes along the way.

Mace Thivierge scored a game-high 23 points, but the Bulldogs were eliminated by Reardan, 74-50, in a District 6 2B loser-out game at West Valley High School.

The Mat Classic brought all classifications and schools under the roof of the Tacoma Dome for a weekend of state championship wrestling Feb. 19-21. 
The event didn't disappoint, as a champion and several placers came from Stevens County schools. 

Darnold poured in a game-high 22 points on Feb. 17 to lift the Hawks to a 56-49 victory over Riverside in a NEA League loser-out game at West Valley High School.

Oakesdale (20-3) used a strong second quarter to seize control and secure a berth to the state tournament, while Inchelium closed its season with a 14-9 overall record (7-5 in league).

In the girls' matchup, Chewelah (2-21 overall, 0-13 Northeast 2B North) fell to St. George’s 60-19. The Dragons used a fast start to seize control, building a 16-2 lead after the first quarter and extending it to 30-8 by halftime.

It was a tale of two games for the Kettle Falls boys basketball team in District 6 2B action at West Valley High School.

The Northport Mustangs battled through the Northeast 1B tournament last week, earning a win over Chesterton Academy before falling to Inchelium in the third-place game Saturday, Feb. 14, at Deer Park High School.

Wrestlers from Kettle Falls and Chewelah punched their tickets to the Mat Classic in Tacoma with strong performances at the WIAA District 6 1B/2B Tournament at Freeman High School.

The Lady Bulldogs (7-15, 4-8) faced a hot-shooting Broncos (17-6, 7-3) squad that was led by Zoe Galbreath, who poured in 35 points, including six 3-pointers. 

Inchelium rolled past Selkirk 62-21 in the Northeast 1B fifth-place game at Deer Park High School, securing a berth in district play.

Ben Riggles buried five 3-pointers and scored 21 points as Riverside edged Colville 63-62 in a Northeast A boys basketball matchup.

The Colville Crimson Hawks found the podium often at the WIAA District 6 1A Wrestling Tournament on Feb. 14 at Lakeside High School, crowning three individual champions and sending eight wrestlers total to state.

Andee Kroiss scored 22 points to lead Colville to a 58-13 victory over Riverside in a Northeast A girls basketball matchup at home.

“Colville Baseball is proud to announce an exciting new chapter for youth baseball in our community. We are officially taking over the Colville Little League program from Kiwanis,” said Colville Baseball President Sawyer Bardwell.

Kettle Falls is 7-14 on the season. Liberty defeated Kettle Falls 47-35 on Saturday, Feb. 7, in a district first-round game at West Valley High School.

The game was close early, with ACH holding a 15-13 edge after the first quarter, but the Lady Warriors took control in the second quarter by limiting Inchelium to three points. ACH carried a 25-16 lead into halftime and steadily widened the margin behind balanced scoring and defensive pressure.

Smith’s hot shooting headlined a balanced Cardinals attack that saw Hudson Gilbert add 20 points with four triples. Medical Lake built momentum early and steadily widened the gap, leading 22-19 after one quarter before outscoring Colville 21-10 in the second to take a 43-29 halftime advantage.

In a defensive-minded contest, Colville built an early 14-7 cushion after the first quarter and maintained a 22-16 advantage at halftime despite a low-scoring second period for both teams.

At Kettle Falls on Feb. 3, the Bulldogs held off Chewelah 49-44. Mace Thivierge led Kettle Falls with 15 points, while Cooper McKern added nine points.

Davenport seized control from the opening tip, jumping out to a 27-0 first-quarter lead and never letting up.

ACH improved to 20-1 overall with the win and advanced to the NE1B championship game, where they will face Wellpinit on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 7:30 p.m., also at Deer Park.

The dual came down to bonus points and key pins, with Chewelah wrestlers doing just enough to pull out the victory despite several open weight classes on both sides.

The Kettle Falls Bulldogs wrestling team powered through a busy Saturday to finish third at the Northeast 2B Duals on Feb. 7 in Davenport, posting a dominant win over Chewelah before dropping a hard-fought dual to Newport.
