Colville High School ’s Little Cheer Camp brought more than 100 young campers onto the football field last Friday, Sept. 25, giving them a chance to perform under the lights alongside the Crimson Hawks cheerleading team. Cheer coach Molli Elkins said 113 campers took part in this year’s event, with 17 Colville High School cheerleaders helping lead the camp and prepare the younger participants for their halftime performance.
The camp required plenty of preparation behind the scenes, with cheerleader Madilynn Harper playing a major role in organizing this year’s event. Elkins said Harper, a four-year cheer senior, selected the camp theme, designed the camp T-shirts, created flyers, chose and taught the camp dance, and helped coordinate the cheer team around the overall vision for the event. Several local businesses also helped make the camp possible, Elkins said. Mr. Sub provided snacks for the campers, while Colmac Coil helped cover the cost of camp shirts.
Your Design Here produced 140 shirts in roughly two-and-a-half days. The camp also received assistance from Colville High School administrators and staff, including Kristi Arms, Peggy Lewis, Blake Sjordal, Kelly Linn, Sandy Smith, and Brad Groce. Keeping more than 100 young cheerleaders hydrated required plenty of drinks; Elkins estimated the camp went through approximately 40 boxes of Capri Sun.
