Chewelah Police Department Receives Spotlight Hero Award

The Chewelah Police Department has been recognized with the Spotlight Hero Award from Homes for Heroes, a nationwide foundation that aims to support law enforcement, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, educators, and veterans. According to the organization, the award is given to agencies that “go above and beyond in their service to the community.” Homes for Heroes Specialist Kathy Colkitt said the Chewelah Police Department stood out for its connection to local residents and its daily approach to public service. “Chewelah Police know their community, go out to their community, and support and help all those who come to their office or who they meet out in the community,” Colkitt said. “They’re amazing – they go with grace, kindness, love, and serve the community with dignity.” Chewelah Mayor Lindsay Baxter also congratulated the department, saying the award was “such a good reflection of our department and these individuals.
