Colville Athletes Post Strong Marks At Lakeside Last Chance

The Colville track and field team had a highly successful showing at the Lakeside Last Chance meet on May 7, with several athletes securing victories heading into the postseason.

Colville track and field athletes made the best of one of their last regular season matches Thursday, May 7, at the Lakeside Last Chance meet. The Colville boys had a strong day in the relays and field events finishing second as a team, while the girls earned wins in the distance races, jumps, and javelin. On the boys side, Colville won the 4x400-meter relay, with Calvin Beardslee, Isaiah Ortiz, Malik Ortiz, and Isaac Ballance finishing first in 3 minutes, 39.58 seconds. Darnell Ah Loo won the long jump at 20 feet, 2.75 inches, with Isaiah Ortiz second at 19 feet, 8 inches, and Connor Titmus fifth at 18 feet, 8 inches. Colville also swept the top three spots in the triple jump, led by Bodie Nigg, who won at 41 feet, 2 inches. Ah Loo was second at 40 feet, 10 inches, and Ortiz was third at 39 feet, 11 inches. Gabe Harper added a win in the pole vault, clearing 12 feet. Kellan Horrocks was fifth at 10 feet, 6 inches, and Elliot Miller placed 10th at 8 feet. Malik Ortiz placed second in the 400 meters in 53.19 seconds, with Beardslee third in 55.10. Baxter Phipps placed eighth in the 100 meters in 11.90 and ninth in the 200 in 24.36. Colville had four top-10 finishers in the boys 1,600 meters. Jerrin Patrick placed third in 4:55.52, Reese Titus was fourth in 4:58.25, Ballance was sixth in 5:05.19 and Daniel Aguilar was seventh in 5:06.22. Titus also placed sixth in the 300 meter hurdles in 51.05, while Blaze Bridgeman was eighth in 54.69 and Jaxon Ward finished ninth in 1:01.43. In the throws, Ezra Forester placed second in the shot put at 41 feet, 8 inches and 10th in the discus at 96 feet, 5 inches. Cody McCormick tied for fourth in the shot put at 35 feet, 6 inches. In the javelin, Mason Beardsley placed second at 147 feet, 7 inches, while Phipps was fourth at 127 feet. Connor Titmus added a third-place finish in the high jump at 5 feet, 8 inches. The Colville girls were led by Zaidence Zier, who won the 1,600 in 5:42.92. Paxton Jones placed second in the same race in 6:04.02, and later finished fourth in the 3,200 in 13:30.18. Andee Kroiss won the long jump at 16 feet, 3.75 inches, and tied for first in the triple jump at 33 feet, 0.5 inches. She also placed third in the 100 hurdles in 16.61 seconds. Kirya Zier added a strong day in the jumps, placing third in the long jump at 15 feet, 1 inch, and third in the triple jump at 31 feet, 3 inches. Ireland Baker was fourth in the long jump at 14 feet, 11.5 inches, Queralt Serra was sixth at 14 feet, 7.5 inches, and Renee LaRue was 10th at 12 feet, 10 inches. In the triple jump, Brinley Haynes placed sixth at 28 feet, 3 inches. LaRue also won the javelin with a throw of 95 feet, 10 inches. Emily Danekas placed fourth at 80 feet, 6 inches, Amaryllis Nokes was sixth at 76 feet, 10 inches, Rylee Brisby placed eighth at 74 feet, 5 inches, and Jordan Dell was 10th at 69 feet, 9 inches. In the high jump, Aliyah Brubaker placed fourth at 4 feet, 6 inches, Danekas was fifth at 4 feet, 6 inches, Kirya Zier was sixth at 4 feet, 4 inches, and Haynes was seventh at 4 feet, 4 inches. Colville also had several top-10 finishes in the pole vault. Clarity Sloan placed fifth at 7 feet, 6 inches, Taylor Pope was sixth at 7 feet, 6 inches, LaRue was eighth at 7 feet, and Eden Hastings was 10th at 7 feet. On the track, Natana Sloan placed ninth in the 100 meters in 14.25, and fifth in the 200 in 28.88. Ellie Malone was seventh in the 200 meters in 29.29, while Ireland Baker was 10th in 29.64. Brisby added a third-place finish in the shot put at 28 feet, 6 inches.
