Rylee Brisby scored 11 points, and Hayden Ortner added seven as Colville’s Lady Crimson Hawks basketball held on for a 33-28 NEA League win over the Medical Lake Cardinals on Feb. 3, at Medical Lake.
In a defensive-minded contest, Colville built an early 14-7 cushion after the first quarter and maintained a 22-16 advantage at halftime despite a low-scoring second period for both teams.
Neither side found much offensive rhythm after the break, with Colville outscoring Medical Lake 7-4 in the third quarter to push the margin to nine. The Cardinals made a late push in the fourth, outscoring Colville by three, but couldn’t close the gap.
Ortner knocked down Colville’s only two 3-pointers of the game, while Brisby did her work inside and at the free-throw line.
Colville improved to 12-6 overall and 3-2 in NEA League play.
The girls' team played Riverside on Tuesday, Feb. 10; results were not available at press time.
