The Colville girls golf team enters the 2026 season aiming to remain competitive in a strong league.
“Colville girls golf should compete well this season,” Head Coach Brandi Flugel said. “We have three returning varsity players from last year and eight girls total on the team.”
The roster features a blend of experience and newcomers, including one senior, four juniors, and three freshmen.
“Two juniors and one freshman haven't played golf before and are trying the sport for the first time,” Flugel added.
Leading the way for the Crimson Hawks are a pair of proven competitors in Ashley Miller and Grey Rainer, both of whom reached the state tournament last season, Flugel said. Senior Ella Visser also returns after qualifying for districts a year ago and is expected to play a key role. Flugel added that the team’s younger golfers could also make an immediate impact.
“We also have a couple of freshmen who have golfed on their own (Jaycee Zhu and Monroe Maddox) who should compete strongly in league and postseason play,” Flugel said.
Colville expects to be in the mix within a competitive league that includes several strong programs.
“Our biggest competition (based on last year) is Medical Lake,” Flugel said. “Lakeside also has quite a few girls who turned out.”
Beyond results, Flugel emphasized the team’s culture and attitude heading into the season.
“Overall, a very positive group of girls who are extremely coachable and supportive of each other,” she said. “It should be an enjoyable year for everyone.”
Flugel also credited a key local partner for helping the program prepare.
“Also, just a shout out to Dominion Meadows Golf Course as they have been great to work with and very generous with us, allowing us to use the facilities and reaching out to ensure we feel supported,” she said.
