Colville Softball Drops Four Games

Colville softball took a hit to their season record last week, falling to Northwest Christian, Medical Lake, and twice to Lakeside, moving the Crimson Hawks to 6-11.

The Crimson Hawks opened the week with a 9-4 loss to Northwest Christian on April 20. Northwest Christian scored twice in the first inning and added five runs in the second to take control early.

Colville finished with five hits. Aynen McCurdy doubled and drove in two runs, while Ellie Kumor also doubled and had an RBI. Amika Neuneker tripled and scored a run, and Aubree Kubesh added a hit.

Kubesh took the loss in the circle, allowing eight runs, seven earned, on seven hits over 4 1/3 innings. Kolee Titmus pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief.

Colville then fell 15-5 to Medical Lake on Wednesday, April 22. The Crimson Hawks scored three runs in the first inning and added single runs in the second and third, but Medical Lake answered with a big fourth inning and pulled away late in the fifth.

Kubesh led Colville at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Andrea Edwards homered and drove in two runs, while Neuneker added a hit, an RBI and a run. 

Kubesh started and took the loss, allowing nine earned runs over 4 1/3 innings. Titmus threw the final 1 2/3 innings.

Colville opened Friday’s doubleheader against Lakeside with an 11-1 loss. Lakeside scored five runs in the first inning and added two in the second to build an early lead.

The Crimson Hawks were held to four hits in the game. Addie Marshall scored Colville’s lone run, while Kubesh, McCurdy, Neuneker, and Kumor each had one hit. Kumor drove in the team’s only run.

Kubesh pitched three innings and allowed eight runs, seven earned, on five hits. Titmus threw two innings in relief.

The Crimson Hawks’ offense came alive in the second game, but Colville fell 15-12 in a high-scoring matchup with Lakeside.

Colville scored in each of the first six innings, including three runs in the fourth, but Lakeside used a six-run second inning and five-run sixth inning to hold on.

Natalie Housworth led Colville, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI. Titmus went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs, and a run scored. Edwards went 2-for-5 with a double and two runs, while McCurdy added two hits, an RBI, and two runs.

Titmus started in the circle before Kubesh came on in relief,  allowing nine runs, three earned, on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings.
