

Colville Valley Swim Club Places Second at Home

The Colville Valley Swim Club placed second overall during its home invitational meet July 11-12, finishing the two-day competition with 1,342 points. The British Columbia Summer Swimming Association-sanctioned meet brought six visiting regional teams to Colville for competition on an eight-lane, 25-meter outdoor course.
Swimmers competed in multiple age divisions and events, including freestyle and backstroke heats. Colville earned several top-three individual divisional finishes, led by Lucien Cardenas, who placed first in the Division 6 boys standings. Teammates Jack Shaw and Miles Sands followed in second and third, giving Colville a sweep of the division’s top three positions.
D.R. Brindza placed second among Division 5 boys, while William Bornstein-Steward finished third. Kellen Horrocks added a third-place finish in Division 7, and Myles Horrocks placed fifth in Division 4. Other boys results included Bryce McGrane placing 10th in Division 1. In Division 2, Soren Horrocks finished eighth, Hawthorn Holtzer placed 12th and Ira Adams took 13th.
Clayton Keeling placed seventh and Cameron Glover finished ninth in the Division 3 boys standings. On the girls side, Noelle Horrocks finished second and Jane Sands placed fourth in Division 5. Morgan Sands also secured a runner-up finish in Division 7. Leona Butterfield led Colville’s Division 1 girls with a fifth-place finish, followed by Liv Topham in ninth.
In Division 2, Marlee Carmell placed sixth, Agnes Tingey finished eighth, Margo Cardenas took 10th, Ada McGrane placed 12th, and Cayenne Hanson finished 13th. Emalie Cantrell added a fifth-place finish in Division 3, while Taylor Olberding placed ninth in Division 4.
