The Colville High School volleyball team’s run came to an end on Saturday, Oct. 31, but the Crimson Hawks didn’t go down without a fight in the NEA League Tournament at Lakeside High School. Colville opened the tournament with a five-set comeback victory over Riverside. After dropping the first two sets, 24- 26, 19-25, Colville rallied to take a tightly contested third set, 27-25, then kept the momentum rolling in the fourth set, winning 25-18. It was nearly all Crimson Hawks in the final set, winning 15-7 for the 3-2 victory.
Georgia Beardslee delivered for Colville, recording a team-high 29 kills to lead Colville’s attack. Katie Roy finished with seven aces, while Andrea Edwards directed the offense with 18 assists. Taya Kinney anchored Colville’s defense at the net with five blocks, while Amika Neuneker was on the defensive with 32 digs. Following the emotional comeback, the Crimson Hawks faced Medical Lake in their second match of the day. Colville started strong, taking the opening set 25- 20, but the Cardinals responded with victories in the next two sets, 25-20 and 25- 16, to seize control of the match. The Crimson Hawks fought in the fourth set, but Medical Lake held on for a narrow 26-24 victory to close out the match, 3-1.
Beardslee again led Colville’s offensive effort, finishing with 17 kills to bring her two-match total to an impressive 46. Roy contributed three service aces and shared the team lead in assists with Edwards, as both players recorded 16 assists. Aubree Kubesh added two blocks to lead the Crimson Hawks at the net. Colville improved on last year’s threewin campaign with a 5-13 mark. The Crimson Hawks also added a postseason win to their belt – their highest win total since 2023.
