The Colville Crimson Hawks softball team enters the heart of the season with a 4-5 overall record, continuing to show a high-powered offense while searching for consistency following a busy week of nonleague action.

Colville split a doubleheader with Chelan on Saturday, March 28, dropping the opener 12-1 before responding with a 12-4 victory in the second game. In the first contest, Chelan capitalized early, scoring six runs in the first two innings. The Crimson Hawks were limited offensively, managing four hits, with Natalie Housworth leading the way with two hits while Kelsea Lewis and Kendra Lewis each added base knocks.

The nightcap told a much different story. Colville’s bats came alive in a big way as the Crimson Hawks broke the game open with a dominant early inning and never looked back. Andrea Edwards led the offensive surge with three RBIs off four hits, while Amika Neuenker delivered with a home run. Edwards had a triple and Kelsea Lewis had a double. Colville finished with 12 runs on seven hits in the win.

Earlier in the week, the Crimson Hawks also split a doubleheader against Timberlake, falling 9-2 in the opener before erupting for a 28-9 victory in the second game. In the first matchup, Colville again found itself playing from behind after Timberlake jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first two innings. Despite collecting five hits, the Hawks were unable to string together enough offense to close the gap.

The second game against Timberlake showcased the full potential of Colville’s lineup. The Crimson Hawks exploded for 28 runs on 11 hits, highlighted by a massive 13-run second inning that put the game out of reach. Neuenker continued her strong week at the plate, hitting another home run, a double, going 4-for-4 with five RBIs. Ellie Kumor and Kolee Titmus had doubles and both finished with multiple hits.

Colville also benefitted from 19 walked batters in the matchup.
