Colville pounds out 21 hits in wins over Deer Park and Chelan before falling to Montesano.

The Colville baseball team split a busy stretch of games last week, highlighted by a pair of strong offensive performances in wins over Deer Park and Chelan before running into a tough Montesano squad.

The Hawks opened the slate with an 11-10 win over Deer Park in a back-and-forth contest that featured plenty of offense on both sides. Colville pounded out 13 hits and overcame a five-run first inning by the Stags to secure the victory.

Kyle Bradfield led the way at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Cooper Haynes drove in two runs on two hits, while Jet Bateman also had two hits, scored twice and added an RBI. Ficher Hilderbrandt added a double and drove in two runs.

After falling behind early, Colville chipped away with consistent production throughout the middle innings before pulling ahead late. Haynes earned the win in relief, tossing a scoreless inning, while Bradfield also provided an inning of shutout work on the mound. Colville scored five unanswered runs for the victory.

Colville carried that offensive momentum into its next game, a dominant 12-1 win over Chelan later that day.

The Hawks broke things open with an eight-run fourth inning and finished with eight hits. Haynes and Luke Bateman each collected two hits, while Hilderbrandt and Zack Bateman each drove in two RBI.

On the mound, Conor Lyng turned in a strong performance, allowing just one run on three hits over five innings while striking out four to earn the win.

Colville’s momentum was halted in its final game of the stretch on April 9 at Gonzaga University, in a 12-4 loss to Montesano.

The Montesano Bulldogs jumped out early and then steadily built their lead, finishing with 14 hits. Colville managed eight hits but was unable to keep pace.

Jet Bateman led the Hawks offensively, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Bradfield added a double and scored a run, while Colton Hansen and Haynes each scored once. Braxton Brown and Zack Bateman both contributed RBIs.

On the mound, Bradfield took the loss, allowing five runs over five innings. Jet Bateman and Haynes also saw time in relief.

Despite the setback, Colville showed its offensive potential throughout the week, combining for 27 runs in its two wins and improving its record to 7-3 on the year.
