Davenport Takes Down Chewelah in Districts After Cougars Notch Road Win

Glenna Soliday scored 26 points as the Davenport girls basketball team cruised past Chewelah’s Lady Cougars 65-9 in a District 6 2B first-round game Saturday, Feb. 7, at West Valley High School.

Davenport seized control from the opening tip, jumping out to a 27-0 first-quarter lead and never letting up. The Gorillas led 44-0 at halftime before Chewelah got on the board in the third quarter.

Despite the district loss, the Cougars showed resilience earlier in the week with a 45-42 road win over Asotin Panthers in the district play-in game on Thursday, Feb. 5, at St. George’s High School.

Sara Vioni led Chewelah with 17 points, while Kayla Davis added 11 as the Cougars picked up their second win of the season.
