Hewes Marine Company and the Hewescraft aluminum boat brand will remain locally and family-owned following their sale to longtime executive David Honeycutt and his family.

Dave, Bill, and Launa Hewes, owners of Hewes Marine Company (HMC) located in Colville, announced on Oct. 12 the sale of HMC and the Hewescraft aluminum boat brand to HMC Vice President and Senior Director David Honeycutt and his family.

The Heweses announced their intention to sell HMC earlier this year. Since that time, the trio said they conducted an “exhaustive” search to identify the “best new leadership” for the company – a business that has been operating in Colville for nearly 80 years, they added. These efforts resulted in their selection of Honeycutt and his family. The Heweses said that Honeycutt has been a member of the leadership team at HMC since 2005 where he has managed the manufacturing and engineering functions of the company and has acted as senior director for the past 10 years. At the time of the announcement, Dave Hewes stated, “The stability that David Honeycutt and his family will provide and the strength of a transition like this to someone who already

knows the business inside and out are great advantages – and, the company will remain locally- and family-owned.”

David Honeycutt expressed his excitement about his new opportunity during the announcement, stating, “I am humbled and encouraged by the Heweses’ confidence in me and my family to be the next steward of this company. The long-term success of this company, the Hewescraft brand, our employees, and this community are the reasons my family and I want to be a part of this for years to come. This is an exciting time. We are growing.”
