Highway 395 Project Nears Completion In Chewelah After Delay

The Washington State Department of Transportation’s (WSDOT) Highway 395 project through Chewelah is expected to be completed by the end of July, according to an update from the city of Chewelah.

The project experienced a delay in June after an asphalt plant shutdown temporarily interrupted work. Officials said paving has since resumed and is nearly finished. Once paving is complete, crews will still need to finish roadway striping and cleanup. City officials said much of the remaining work is expected to be completed in early July. However, the plastic paint being used on the new asphalt requires additional curing time, which will extend the final phase of the project through the end of the month.

The city said it is pleased to see the project nearing completion and expressed appreciation to WSDOT and its contractors for their work. Officials also acknowledged that the construction created challenges for local businesses, residents and drivers, and thanked the community for its patience and flexibility during the process.

The city of Chewelah said it will provide a final update once WSDOT confirms that all work on the project has been completed.
