Conner Kitt and Hannah Schumacher have officially announced their engagement following a surprise 4th of July proposal at the Northeast Washington Fairgrounds in Colville. Kitt, a 2023 graduate of Colville High School, serves as the youth director at Grace Bible Church. Schumacher, a 2024 graduate of Kettle Falls High School, began attending the church’s young adults group on Thursday nights where she met Kitt.

A deep bond sparked between the two as they served in ministry together. Though the couple initially reported showing no romantic interest in one another, friends and ministry partners quietly prayed for a match for months. After weeks of building memories and serving their community side-by-side, Kitt said he officially asked Schumacher to be his girlfriend on March 15.

The timeline moved quickly as the couple realized they had found their future and picked out a ring. Though he initially planned a quiet sunset proposal for Independence Day, Kitt seized “the perfect moment” during the holiday festivities, dropping to one knee on the grass to ask Schumacher to spend the rest of her life with him.

“All along, God had been in every single detail,” Kitt said. The couple is planning an April 2027 wedding. Following their marriage, they plan to reside locally and continue their mission to “reach our world for Christ.
