The Kettle Falls baseball team showed flashes of offensive firepower and resilience last week, earning a split across three games, highlighted by an 11-1 win over Tonasket.
The Bulldogs opened the week with a tough 11-5 loss to Medical Lake on March 17. Despite collecting five hits, Kettle Falls couldn’t keep pace with the Cardinals’ offense, which scored in four different innings.
Zac Burch led the Bulldogs at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Cooper McKern added a double and an RBI. Cody Adams and Jaxson Fandry each drove in a run.
The Bulldogs bounced back in a big way Friday, March 20, against Tonasket, erupting for 11 runs on eight hits in a decisive 11-1 victory.
Kettle Falls jumped out early and never looked back, scoring two runs in the first and third innings before adding four more in the fifth to break the game open.
McKern sparked the offense, scoring four runs and collecting two hits. Zander Johnson went 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Adams and McKern each had doubles.
On the mound, Johnson earned the win with a strong six-inning performance, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out six.
Kettle Falls couldn’t complete the sweep later in the day, falling to Tonasket 4-2 in the second game.
The Bulldogs managed six hits in the loss, led by Burch, who went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple. Danny Searson added two hits and an RBI.
