

Kettle Falls Girls Shine in League Tennis Win Over Reardan

Hume, Cruden, and Jones sweep singles to power Bulldogs past Reardan in key league matchup.
The Kettle Falls tennis team split a pair of matches last week, highlighted by a strong showing from the Bulldogs girls in a league victory over Reardan on April 3.
Kettle Falls dominated singles play against Reardan, sweeping all three matches to set the tone early. Elsie Hume led the charge with a decisive 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles, while Thea Cruden followed with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 2. Adison Jones capped the sweep with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3. In doubles, Rylee Harcourt and Ashlynn Comer added a win with an 8-5 pro set victory at No. 2. The Bulldogs were competitive in the remaining doubles matches, with Lily Van Dusen and Shelby Shurrum falling in three sets, 7-5, 4-6, 6-10, and Peyton Miller and Hume narrowly losing 8-9 in a pro set.
On the boys side, Kincaid Freer battled in a tight three-set match at No. 1 singles before falling 7-6, 2-6, 7-10, while both doubles teams came up short.
Earlier in the week, Kettle Falls hosted a strong Saint George’s squad on March 30. Cruden picked up the Bulldogs’ lone singles win with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 2, while Hume faced a tough opponent at No. 1. Harcourt and Comer secured a doubles win with an 8-5 pro set victory, but the Bulldogs dropped the remaining matches against the visiting Dragons.
