The Kettle Falls Bulldogs softball team faced a challenging set of games last week, dropping a series of contests against Newport and Colfax as they moved to 2-7 on the season.

Kettle Falls opened the stretch with a 16-5 loss to Newport on March 31. The Lady Bulldogs collected six hits in the game, with Heira Palumbo leading the way with two hits and an RBI. Audrey Morales, Kendall Anderson, and Kara Ferguson each added hits, while Lily Larsen scored a run and pitched 2.1 innings. Despite early production at the plate, Newport’s offense proved too much, scoring 16 runs on nine hits.

The Bulldogs then traveled to Colfax on April 2, where they fell in both games of a doubleheader, 14-4 and 18-7. In the opener, Kettle Falls recorded nine hits, including two apiece from Larsen, Anderson, and Palumbo. Morales drove in two runs, while Palumbo and Anderson each added RBIs. In the second game, the Bulldogs managed six hits, highlighted by doubles from Larsen and Jillian Subie. Larsen, Morales, and Georgia Richartz each recorded RBIs, but Colfax capitalized on big innings to pull away.

Kettle Falls returned to action April 3 against Newport but again struggled to slow the Grizzlies’ bats, falling 15-2 in the first game and 18-9 in the second. In the opener, the Bulldogs were limited to three hits, with Morales, Anderson, and Natalie Corvino each collecting one. In the finale, Kettle Falls showed more offensive life with nine hits, led by Larsen’s three-hit, two-RBI performance. Morales added a pair of RBIs, while multiple players contributed hits in the loss.
