Lake Roosevelt Recreation Area Announces New Superintendent

The National Park Service announced on Aug. 21 that Devon Bradley has been selected as superintendent of Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area. He will assume the role Oct. 4, and oversee daily operations, long-term planning, resource protection, and public safety. According to a press release from Lake Roosevelt Forum (LRF), Bradley brings nearly three de- cades of military and federal government experience to the position, with experience in park operations, facilities management, budgeting, project management, and organizational leadership.

He has also served as superintendent of Chickasaw National Recreation Area in Oklahoma since 2024, where he oversees Washita Battlefield National Historic Site and supports National Park Service operations at the Oklahoma City National Memorial. “Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area brings together many aspects of the National Park Ser- vice mission that matter deeply to me,” stated Bradley in a statement sent by the National Park Service. “It offers exceptional opportunities and other outdoor experiences while protecting important natural and cultural resources.

I was also drawn to the park’s size, operation- al complexity, and strong connections with the Tribal nations and surrounding communities.” Bradley said his top priority is to learn and listen when he arrives here, according to the National Park Service statement. “I want to spend time with employees, tribal leaders, community members, visitors, and partner agencies before making major decisions.

I’ll also focus on supporting the park’s workforce, maintaining safe and reliable visitor services, and understanding the condition of the park’s facilities and infrastructure,” he stated. According to LRF, Bradley joined the National Park Service in 2022 as deputy chief of facilities management at Grand Canyon National Park, where he helped manage more than 130 employees and a complex portfolio of park facilities, housing, trails, and infrastructure across the 1.2-million-acre park.

Prior to joining the National Park Service, Bradley spent 13 years with the Department of the Army, where he held leadership positions in program management and operations, including serving as a deputy director responsible for a team of 28 program analysts and a $500 million portfolio of Department of Defense programs. He previously served 10 years in the U.S. Marine Corps as a reconnaissance Marine, including three tours in Iraq, according to the LRF press release.
