A Colville teacher’s pink Little Free Library was selected as one of 150 nationwide to receive Bad Words through “Good Morning America’s” October book selection.
A local teacher’s Little Free Library recently gained national attention when it was named a recipient of “Good Morning America’s” October book selection. The pink library, located at 714 S. Hofstetter St. in Colville, is owned by Colville High School teacher Tracey Delyea and was one of 150 Little Free Libraries nationwide selected to receive “Bad Words” by Rioghnach Robinson. Delyea said she was notified of the honor prior to the announcement but was asked to keep the news confidential until the broadcast aired on Oct. 6. Delyea said she received the registered library as a Christmas gift during the COVID-19 pandemic quarantine, when her father and his childhood best friend built it for her. It has since become a fixture in the neighborhood, offering free books for readers of all ages under the organization’s “take a book, share a book” model. “What started as a special gift has become a wonderful way to share my love of reading and connect our community through books,” Delyea said. According to littlefreelibrary.org, the Little Free Library nonprofit organization works to expand book access, inspire readers, and build community.
