A 74-year-old Loon Lake man was killed Friday night in a single-vehicle crash north of Loon Lake, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 10:05 p.m. on April 3 along U.S. Highway 395 near milepost 194, approximately three-and-a-half miles north of Loon Lake. Troopers reported the vehicle, a 2008 Toyota Highlander, was traveling northbound when it left the roadway to the right, struck several trees and rolled into the woods before coming to rest upright.

The driver, identified as Brian J. Gilmore, was ejected during the crash and pronounced dead at the scene by the Stevens County Coroner. Authorities reported Gilmore was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. No other vehicles or individuals were involved.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The vehicle was totaled, and it is not yet known whether drugs or alcohol were a factor.
