New Harmony Landscapes is officially open and ready to serve customers with landscape design and installation, yard clean up, maintenance, and more. “I do more than just maintain what’s outside,” said owner Elizabeth Bostrom. “I like to call what I do ‘staging.’ I make the area look nice. Well taken care of. Anybody can mow a lawn. Customers want someone who pays attention to detail, and I have an eye for detail.”

Bostrom said she grew up doing landscaping work, and her new business is her passion. “It’s like an addiction that I can’t get rid of. I tried working in different industries throughout my life, and I always come back to landscapes. I just love it.”

Bostrom, originally from Snohomish, has lived in Colville for three years, and before that, Kettle Falls for eight years; she said she is excited to embark on this new chapter of her

life with her five children. “My kids are 18, 16, 12, 11, and 9. They all pitch in to help me from time to time. My oldest helps with the heavy lifting, and the younger kids get paid in ice cream! My hope is that when the kids get older, they’ll be as interested in New Harmony Landscapes as I am.

“I chose the name New Harmony Landscapes for personal reasons. I want all things

in my life to be in harmony. My goal is to be happy and well-adjusted.” Bostrom said she started putting together the seeds of her business in 2021, but she let it lapse. “It was too much for me at the time with the kids, and I couldn’t invest the time. About one year ago, I really started to make it work. I just took it slow and steady. “When I first moved here to the east side of the state, I didn’t think that landscaping was something that people wanted. But there was an influx of people who said that they would pay more for the services I offer. There was more of a demand.” Bostrom also offers installation, bringing in dirt or rock to create landscapes, as well as irrigation. “I grew up doing irrigation. On the west side, where it rained all the time, sprinkler systems were a luxury. But over here where it’s drier, if you want anything growing to live, then irrigation is a must. “I will bring in whatever I need to create a

landscape, repair a rock wall, and create flower beds. If people want red bar or black mulch,

I’ll do that. I will plant trees, shrubs, and flowers. I will do your edging and pull your weeds.”

Bostrom said she is promoting her business through word-of-mouth and is developing a Facebook page. Every customer’s job is unique, she said, so her prices are based on a

combination of what the customer wants, the bid for the job, and looking at the property.

“I do both residential and commercial landscapes,” said Bostrom. “And right now, I can

do everything that is landscape-related.” New Harmony Landscapes can be reached

by phone or text at 425-218-0717.
