New Superintendent Joins Loon Lake School District

Staci Gloyn joined the Loon Lake School District on July 1 as the new superintendent. Looking ahead to the upcoming school year, Gloyn says she is eager to familiarize herself with the community and work in a smaller district.

“My first goal is to get to know the community, families, staff, and students of Loon Lake,” stated Gloyn in an email. “I look forward to learning about the great things happening in the district and continue the great work that is going on.” Gloyn said she has worked in education since 1997, and previously served as superintendent of the Washtunca School District in Adams County.

She has also worked as a principal and taught English, math, and computer sciences within the Washtunca School District. Gloyn added that she has taught first grade in Warden, sixth grade in Riverside, English and district ESL in Mead, and worked as an adjunct professor for Walla Walla Community College.

Gloyn’s husband recently accepted a position managing the fish hatcheries in the Spokane region, so she was seeking a small school to work in, she explained. “I love working in small schools, and when Loon Lake came open, I was hopeful that they would be a good fit for me,” she said. “After an interview with nearly the entire staff, it felt like a wonderful place to land.

I am so excited to become a part of the team at Loon Lake.” The Loon Lake School District has many “great” projects happening, such as a playground installation and a Small School Modernization grant, she said. “One of my goals is to successfully facilitate those projects and help improve the campus and buildings of the district.”

Aside from her professional life, Gloyn said she enjoys gardening, water sports, soccer, being part of her family’s book club, and playing clarinet in the German band Oomas and Pas, which headlines Odessa’s Deutchesfest.
