

Northport Athletes Battle Against Bigger Schools At Lakeside Last Chance

The Northport boys and girls teams delivered a standout performance at Lakeside High School on May 7, headlined by personal records.
The Northport boys were led by strong relay finishes and several top-three individual efforts in the hurdles, jumps and throws at the Lakeside Last Chance track and field meet at Lakeside High School on Thursday, May 7 Pete Beardslee placed third in the boys 300-meter hurdles, finishing in a personal-best 44.65 seconds. Hunter Creach added two top-10 hurdle finishes, placing fifth in the 110 hurdles in 21.20 seconds, and seventh in the 300 hurdles in 53.96. Trae Smith had Northport’s top sprint finish, placing 13th in the boys’ 200 in 25.27 seconds. He also ran on both Northport relays. In the 400, Smith placed fourth in 55.38 seconds. Cameron Mawdsley gave Northport a top-10 finish in the 800, placing eighth in a personal-best 2:15.48. Canyon Hoskins added a 10thplace finish in the 1,600 in a personal-best 5:17.60. Northport’s 4x100 relay team of Blaine Rieckers, Dalen Benjamin, Smith, and Mawdsley placed third in 47.64 seconds. The 4x400 relay team of Mawdsley, Rieckers, Beardslee, and Smith placed second in 3:54.19. In the boys field events, Benjamin placed third in the long jump with a personal-best mark of 18 feet, 9 inches. He also placed ninth in the high jump at 5 feet, 2 inches, and 11th in the triple jump at 34 feet, 3 inches. Rieckers placed seventh in the triple jump at 35 feet, 2 inches, while Beardslee was eighth at 35 feet, 1 inch. Max Glasgow placed ninth in the javelin at 115 feet, 8 inches. On the girls side, Northport’s top finish came from Brooklyn Wilson, who placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 77 feet, 8 inches. Dalilah Colton placed fifth in the javelin at 79 feet, 7 inches. Billie Wills placed seventh in the long jump with a mark of 14 feet, 1 inch. Makaila Hackenberg placed eighth in the 300 hurdles in 56.24 seconds. The Northport girls 4x100 relay team of Colton, Hackenberg, Gardner, and Wills placed fifth in 56.35 seconds.
