Northport Athletes Compete at State 1B Track Meet

Northport athletes wrapped up the track and field season at the State 1B championships, with competitors representing the Mustangs in individual, relay, and unified events. Eric Cazenavette turned in Northport’s top placing of the meet, finishing fifth in the Unified 100 meters. Cazenavette ran a personal-best time of 14.44 seconds. Dalilah Colton also competed in the Unified 100, running a personal-best 14.44. Makaila Hackenberg added another personal-best performance for Northport in the girls 100-meter hurdles. The senior placed 12th in the preliminaries with a time of 18.15 seconds. On the boys side, Trae Smith competed in the 400 meters, placing 17th in the preliminaries in 55.67 seconds. Northport also sent both boys and girls 4x100 relay teams to Yakima. The boys relay team of Blaine Rieckers, Dalen Benjamin, Smith, and Cameron Mawdsley placed 13th in the preliminaries with a time of 48.16 seconds. The girls 4x100 relay team of Kylie Colton, Hackenberg, Billie Wills, and Storm Gardner finished 15th in the preliminaries in 56.94 seconds.
