

Northport Track Athletes Complete Top Finishes Across Multiple Meets

Northport track and field athletes turned in several strong performances at the District 6 1B League Meet on April 21 at Valley Christian School. Northport track and field athletes collected several event wins and top-three finishes Saturday, April 25, at the 29th annual Priest River Invite at Priest River Lamanna High School.
League Meet at Valley Christian
The Mustangs were led on the boys side by Trae Smith, Pete Beardslee, and Canyon Hoskins, along with two strong relay finishes. Smith placed second in the 400 meters in a personal-best 53.68 seconds and was fifth in the 200 in 25.43. Cameron Mawdsley added a sixth-place finish in the 200 meters in 25.99 and was 12th in the 100 in 12.93.
Northport won the boys 4x400 relay, with Mawdsley, Blaine Rieckers, Beardslee, and Smith finishing in 3:53.08. The Mustangs also placed second in the 4x100 relay, as Rieckers, Dalen Benjamin, Smith, and Mawdsley finished in 48.41.
Beardslee placed second in the 300 hurdles in 45.56 and sixth in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 34 feet, 10 inches. He also finished 16th in the discus at 86 feet, 11 inches.
Hoskins placed third in the 3,200 in a personal-best 11:20.80 and sixth in the 300 hurdles in 53.90. Hunter Creach added a fifth-place finish in the 110 hurdles in 22.13.
In the boys field events, Max Glasgow placed fourth in the javelin with a personal-best throw of 129 feet. Rieckers was 10th in the javelin at 115 feet, 6 inches, and fourth in the triple jump at 36 feet, 11 inches. Benjamin finished fifth in the long jump at 17 feet, 4 inches, and eighth in the high jump at 5 feet, while Creach tied for ninth in the high jump at 4 feet, 10 inches.
On the girls side, Storm Gardner led Northport in the sprints, placing fourth in the 100 meters in a personal-best 14.39. Elizabeth Casteel finished 10th in the 200 meters in 30.85 and 13th in the 100 in 15.12.
Makaila Hackenberg placed third in both hurdle races for Northport. She finished the 100 hurdles in 19.21 and the 300 hurdles in a personal-best 55.62. Kylie Colton was sixth in the 300 hurdles in 1:00.09.
The Northport girls 4x100 relay team of Casteel, Colton, Billie Wills, and Gardner placed third in 56.92.
In the throws, Dalilah Colton placed fifth in the javelin with a personal-best throw of 91 feet, 11 inches, and ninth in the shot put at 26 feet, 9 inches. Brooklyn Wilson was 11th in the discus at 80 feet, 7 inches, and 15th in the shot put at 23 feet, 5 inches. Kate Beardslee added a 16th-place finish in the discus at 67 feet, 2 inches.
Wills also placed fifth in the long jump at 13 feet, 11.75 inches, while Kylie Colton was 13th at 12 feet, 5.75 inches.
Priest River Invite
The Mustangs were led by strong showings from their boys relay team, jumpers and throwers, while the girls team picked up several top-three finishes in the hurdles, jumps and throwing events.
On the boys side, Northport won the 4x400 relay, with Mawdsley, Rieckers, Beardslee, and Trae Smith finishing in 3 minutes, 54.35 seconds. Smith also placed second in the 200 meters in 25.01 seconds and third in the 400 in 54.31.
Beardslee added one of Northport’s top individual performances, winning the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 38 feet, 3 inches. Rieckers placed third in the triple jump at 35 feet, 9.5 inches, while Dalen Benjamin was fourth at 35 feet, 5 inches. Benjamin also placed third in the high jump at 5 feet.
Beardslee also placed third in the 300 hurdles in a personal-best 45.01 and was 13th in the discus at 95 feet, 4 inches.
In the throwing events, Max Glasgow placed second in the javelin with a throw of 123 feet. Rieckers was fifth at 109 feet, 9 inches, and David Kingsbury was eighth with a personal-best throw of 93 feet, 5 inches. Glasgow also finished 17th in the discus with a personal-best throw of 85 feet, 11 inches.
Mawdsley added a fifth-place finish in the 200 meters at 26.02 and was 10th in the 100 in 12.93. Creach placed fourth in the 110 hurdles in 22.47.
The Northport girls were led by Hackenberg, Dalilah Colton, Wilson, and Wills.
Hackenberg placed second in the 100 hurdles with a personal-best time of 18.89 seconds and third in the 300 hurdles in 56.03. Kylie Colton also competed in the hurdles, placing seventh in the 100 hurdles in 21.43.
Dalilah Colton turned in a strong day in the throwing events. She placed third in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 26 feet, 11 inches, second in the javelin at 77 feet, 2 inches, and 10th in the discus at 63 feet, 8 inches.
Wilson placed third in the discus at 80 feet, 6 inches, fifth in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 24 feet, 10.5 inches, and sixth in the javelin at 66 feet, 7 inches. Abi Bonner added a ninth-place finish in the shot put at 24 feet, 1 inch, and was 12th in the discus with a personal-best throw of 57 feet, 8 inches.
Wills placed second in the long jump at 14 feet, 3 inches and ninth in the javelin with a personal-best throw of 60 feet, 6 inches. Kylie Colton placed third in the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 24 feet, 1 inch, and fifth in the long jump at 12 feet, 10.5 inches.
In the sprints, Casteel placed fifth in the 100 meters in a season-best 14.82 and fifth in the 200 in a season-best 30.34. Wills was sixth in the 100 in 14.97, Hackenberg was seventh in 14.98, and Kylie Colton was eighth in 15.25.
