The Chewelah Golf and Country Club and hundreds of surrounding residents farther up Sand Canyon Road lost power Saturday, July 19, in the early afternoon after a vehicle hit a utility pole in front of the parking lot of the clubhouse.

The utility pole was knocked away from the ground and was hanging by wires, according to wit- nesses. Chewelah Fire and Avis- ta crews responded to the accident. It was reported as a non-injury incident.

The golf course lost power and had to use emergency backups, while large sections of the neighborhood lost power. Additional residents of the Chewelah Golf and Country Club lost power as re- pairs continued around 6 p.m. Power was restored in the late evening
