Doris May Falk, age 87, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026, in Spokane, Washington, surrounded by her loving family.

Doris was born on July 2, 1938, in Sioux City, Iowa, to the late Mabel McCammant. She was the kind of woman who left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to cross her path — hardworking, caring, tough, and whip-smart, with an unwavering commitment to bringing out the very best in those around her.

Alongside her beloved husband Jerry, Doris devoted her career to education and athletics at Colville Junior High, where she served as a Physical Education teacher and softball coach. She was known for holding her students and athletes to high standards — and for the sharp sense of humor that made those standards a little easier to meet. Together, Doris and Jerry shaped the lives of countless young people in their community, leaving behind a legacy that extended far beyond the classroom and the ball field.

In retirement, Doris channeled that same dedication into serving others. She was an active member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Providence Mt. Carmel Hospital Auxiliary, Colville Library Improvement Club, Athenaeum Club, and lent her talents to the Colville Community Church Bell Choir. She also became an accomplished stained glass artist and enjoyed participating in a monthly Bunco group with many of her friends. Whether she was supporting a neighbor, cheering on a former student, or — as those who knew her will delight — meticulously mowing her lawn right up until the end of her life, Doris approached everything she did with purpose and pride.

Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Falk, and her twin brother Don McCammant. She is survived by her two children: Tad Falk and Jodi Laughlin; five grandchildren: TJ, Cody, Morgan, Victoria, and Julia; and her brother Leon McCammant.

A joint memorial service for Doris and Jerry is currently being considered and will be announced at a later date.
