Faye Rose (Stegall) Kowing, aged 89, passed away on August 7, 2026, in Colville, WA. Faye was born on October 19, 1936, to Joseph and Rose (Hightower) Stegall in Cortez, CO. She spent her early childhood in Colorado and Panama, where her father worked on the Canal Zone during World War II. After returning to the states, her family settled in Montesano, WA, where she thrived with her seven siblings: Birdie, Jack, Darla, Barbara (Bobbie), Karyl, Lowell (Butch), and Steven (Steve).
Faye married Gene Lee Kowing on February 11, 1955, at her family home in Montesano. They raised their family in Grays Harbor, WA, until moving to Colville, WA, in 1970. In 1978, they embarked on a mobile lifestyle and relocated to Payson, AZ, to enjoy the warm weather. Faye enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, crafting, baking, and traveling with her husband. She was baptized in 1958 as a Jehovah’s Witness and served her God with her whole heart, soul, mind, and strength.
Alongside her husband, Faye was associated with many congregations over the years. From 1996 to 2014, they both joyfully participated in the building and remodeling of 42 Kingdom Halls throughout Arizona. Faye’s memory is cherished by her husband, Gene Kowing, and her three children: Hank Kowing (Audrey) of Spokane, Valjean Merkel (Erich) of Colville, and Karen Kowing of Bailey, CO; her four grandchildren: Jody Kowing ( Jolene), Tiffany Hoiland (Thane), Raemond Kowing (Kyra), and Seneca Rose (Steven); along with five great-grandchildren: Zane Hoiland, Wyatt Hoiland, Tripp Hoiland, Avery Simons, and Lyra Hayes. Also, siblings Darla Wheaton (Floyd), Karyl Simpson, Butch Stegall (BJ), Steve Stegall ( June), and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and wonderful friends. A memorial will be held on Saturday, September 5th at 1:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Colville, WA.
