Laura Jane Swan, born May 15, 1947, was unexpectedly welcomed into the arms of the Lord on March 21, 2026, in Spokane, WA. She was born to Paul and Alice Thorlacius in Rush City, MN, and lived most of her life in Colville, WA. She was preceded in death by her siblings Lillian, Anna, Barbara, Rosemary, John, Emery, and Donald. She is survived by her children, Michael G. Swan Jr., Lori L. Swan, and Sylvia M. (Swan) Ferguson; her sister, Kathleen Thorlacius (Katie); her grandchildren, Hailey Crone, Rejina, Karmela, and Benjerman; and her great-grandchildren, Mylee, Natalee, Jocelyn, Bradlee, Ethan, and Kylee. Laura was known for her kind and generous heart. Throughout her life, she welcomed countless strangers—and their children—into her home. She lovingly knitted “umpteen” winter hats for those in need—as she would often say—and gave freely of herself in all she did. Her work was as varied as it was meaningful, from hooking chokers and skinning logs to serving as a CNA at Pinewood Terrace Nursing Home. She carried a joyful spirit, often seen with her pink hair, always trying to make someone smile. Her loyal dog, Flip, was her constant companion. Laura found her greatest joy in being a devoted wife and mother. Family meant everything to Laura, and she loved them with an unwavering heart. May her memory live on in the hearts of all who knew her and were blessed to love her.

Please share your memories of Laura or leave condolences for her family on her tribute wall at hennesseyfh.com.
