Leann Marie Stewart passed away on March 2, 2026, in North Bend, WA, at 61 years old. She was born on January 7, 1965, the daughter of Norman and Lura Schiele.
Leann was raised in Columbia Falls, MT, until 1977, when her family moved to Colville, WA. She attended Colville Junior High and Colville Senior High School. During her high school years she excelled in softball, volleyball, basketball and was selected as Colville Junior Miss Princess. Leann graduated from high school in 1983.
After high school, Leann went on the attend Washington State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Physical Education in 1987. During her summers, she worked at the Colville City Pool as a swim instructor and pool manager.
After college, Mrs. Stewart started her teaching career in Oak Harbor, WA, where she taught at both the junior and senior high schools and coached volleyball and softball. She also earned her Master of Education degree from Lesley College, as well as her National Board Certification in Education.
On June 28, 1997, Leann married the love of her life, Patrick (P.J.) Stewart in Colville, WA. Leann and P.J. lived in Oak Harbor until moving to North Bend, WA, in 2001. Leann taught at Mount Si High School for 25 years. She taught Health and PE and coached many sports, most recently, swimming and track. Throughout her career, Leann was a mentor and role model to many.
Leann enjoyed running, swimming, hiking, lifting weights, gardening, and many other outdoor activities. Most of all, Leann enjoyed spending time with her husband, P.J., and loved being a mom to her two daughters, Karlie and Chloe. Leann was the most generous, compassionate, caring, strong, and selfless person. She had a servant's heart and cared deeply about her friends and family. Leann's faith in Jesus was very important to her and she was a light to everyone she knew. She was a devoted Christ follower and her life was a testament to her strong faith. We will greatly miss her loving presence, kindness, and beautiful smile.
Leann was preceded in death by her father, Norman Schiele. She is survived by her husband, P.J. Stewart of North Bend, WA; daughters Karlie Stewart and Chloe Stewart of North Bend, WA; mother Lura Schiele of Colville, WA; sister Val Peterson of Kennewick, WA; brother Loren (Kathleen) Schiele of Dallas, TX; brother Neal Schiele of Yuma, AZ; brother Scott (Marla) Schiele; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in honor of Leann on Saturday, March 14, at 1:00 PM at Snoqualmie Valley Alliance Church in Fall City, WA.
