Long Time Stevens County resident Phillip Alan Wise passed on March 29, 2026, surrounded in love by his wife and daughter after a long illness, at their home in Bonney Lake, Washington. His passing was peaceful and is with the Lord. He was the son of David Aaron Wise and Verna Adelle Maxon on May 3, 1940, in Colville, Washington at the Mt. Carmel Hospital. He was the youngest of three. The family lived in Colville and Rice, Washington. He graduated from Kettle Falls High School in 1958. In December of 1958 he joined the Navy and served for four years. He was trained in the Navy as an electrician and radio. While in the Navy he was stationed in Hawaii, Midway Island and his last ship he was assigned was the USS Kearsarge which picked up the astronaut Watler Schirra on October 3, 1962, in the Pacific Ocean. He was Honorably discharged with the rank of E5 and released from the Navy at the Catawron Eleven, NAS, NI, San Diego, California, December 1958. Decoration included the First Good Conduct Award for Service ending on 11 December 1961.
In fall of 1963 he married Lorna Pelisier in Colville, Washington, this marriage had six children, Kendra, Kerrie, Dustin, Darrin (Tasha), Dawson, and Dallas. The marriage ended in divorce 1983. He then later married Roberta (Robbie) Paul on July 1, 1995. They were together for 30 wonderful years. Together they built a home in Deer Park, Washington, and recently moved to Bonney Lake, Washington.
With the training he received in the Navy he was able to work in several TV repair shops, beginning in Seattle, Washington for a year, then Coeur d’ Alene, Sandpoint, Idaho, and last was Colville, Washington. In 1967 he was hired by the Boise Cascade Lumber Plywood Plant in Kettle Falls as an electrician and soon was their head electrician. He worked there for 15 years and then was hired as an electrician and the beginning crew for the Avista Generating Station in Kettle Falls, Washington, beginning June 1982 until he retired in July 2002. When he retired, he became an Amsoil Salesman, until he turned this business over to his son Darrin.
In addition to his work as an electrician, he always was a rancher. In his lifetime he put in miles of fences, designed and built several barns, a handyman, raised cattle, and hay wherever he lived. He enjoyed being out in the field and working with the cattle and raising a good hay crop. He won several blue ribbons for his hay. He was also an avid Grange member earning the 7th Degree. Phil in addition was a self-taught guitar player and artist. He was an early riser and worked hard all his life.
He enjoyed going on hunting camping trips with friends, fishing, and in general being outside. He also enjoyed researching the Wise, Maxon family genealogy. He is hoping that one of the children or grandchildren will continue the research. He has some relatives coming and settling in Rhode Island in the late 1690’s.
He is survived by his wife Roberta (Robbie) Paul, children Kendra, Kerrie, Dustin, Darrin (Tasha), Dawson, and Dallas (Heather). Sister-in-law Maxine Wise (David). He has eight grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. He has numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David A. Wise, and Verna Maxon Wise, He sister Doris Scholesser, and brother David A. Wise.
Funeral Services will be May 2, 2026, at the United Church of Christ in Chewelah, Washington at 11:00 AM with burial to follow at the Pioneer Cemetery in Chewelah, with military honors, and a luncheon following at the UCC Church.
