Ruby (born Irene Ruby Lucille Wilson) passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, in Colville, Washington, at the age of 81. She leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love for her family and friends, a desire to teach others and share God’s word, and a lifelong love of games. Ruby was born on April 23, 1944, in Waco, Texas, to John Escher Chatfield Wilson and Gladys Viola (Spell) Wilson. She grew up primarily in California, had her three children there, and then spent some time wandering around the western states before settling in Washington. There, she went back to college for a teaching degree and found her true calling: shaping young minds as a beloved elementary school teacher, a role that perfectly suited her caring heart. Ruby was wonderfully outgoing, friendly, and deeply compassionate. Blessed with the “gift of gab” she truly cherished a good conversation and loved visiting with her many friends and large family. She expressed her vibrant and creative spirit through painting, drawing, sewing, quilting, and card making, and she was always eager to share her profound love of God with others. Ruby was also the ultimate source of fun for her family; she was famous for her love of any and all games and was truly happiest when playing. She now rests in peaceful slumber alongside her parents and her siblings Don, John, Patti, and Harold, awaiting the blessed hope of the second coming. Her joyful memory will be kept alive by her children, Angela (Alan) Meyer, Veronica Randall, and Bryan (Marise) Doty, and her cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Kaila, Joshua, Kinzie, and Nathaniel. A memorial service celebrating Ruby’s life will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Colville, WA (138 E Cedar Loop). Lunch will be provided immediately following the service. For those unable to attend in person, a livestream will be available to view virtually - search “Colville SDA Church” in Facebook.
