Sarah Marguerite (McKay) Jones

In Loving Memory of Sarah Marguerite (McKay) Jones. With profound sadness, the family announces the passing of Sarah Marguerite (McKay) Jones, age 91, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Sarah left this life on August 4, 2026, in Colville, Washington, surrounded by the family who cherished her. Born in Seattle as the third of nine children to George Angus McKay and Thelma (Chatfield) McKay, Sarah grew up with a deep sense of responsibility, generosity, and service. 

These qualities became the foundation of a life defined by kindness and unwavering care for others. Family was the heart of Sarah’s world. Her home was a place of warmth, welcome, and celebration—where laughter was abundant, meals were shared freely, and everyone who entered felt embraced. Her gentle spirit and gracious nature left an imprint on all who knew her. 

In Colville, Sarah became a familiar and friendly face. She worked at Sprouse-Reitz, spent time at a local florist shop in the Barman’s building, and later greeted customers as a checkout clerk at Excell Foods. Her smile and easy kindness made everyday interactions memorable. Sarah was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 66 years, Harold V. Jones. 

She is survived by her son, Ben Jones; her daughter, Sue ( Jones) Leake, and husband Rick; her grandchildren and great grandchildren — Rebekah (Trevor) Hart, Audrey, and Harrison; Stephanie (Tony) Reha, Gabrielle, Eriana, Taylor, and Finlee; Melissa (Kevin) Doyle, Scarlett, Greysen, and Lachlan; Michelle ( Joe) Kowalski and Jordynne; Jeremiah (Larissa) Leake, Huntley, and Wesley — as well as her brothers Daniel McKay (Trish) and Mike McKay (Glenda). She is also remembered with love by many dear friends who mourn her passing and celebrate her life. 

A celebration of Sarah’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on September 19, 2026, at the Colville Church of God. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to her favored local charity, NEW Family Life Services (newfamilylifeservices.com). Sarah’s legacy—one of compassion, generosity, and steadfast love—will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
