Thomas (Tom) Lawver, age 83, went home to be with the Lord Jesus on February 7, 2026. He passed away peacefully from liver cancer with his wife Susan at his side.
Tom was born January 28, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, to Earl and Beatrice (Hansen) Lawver. Growing up in Chicago and Tucson, he enjoyed football, wrestling and track. Career moves in education took Tom to Minnesota and then to Kettle Falls and Colville, Washington.
As a teacher and principal, Tom loved working with kids. He became an active advocate for children and families, participating in dozens of state and community organizations helping youth or their families. A loving husband and father, he often said, “family first.” Many will remember him for his quick wit and ever-present sense of humor.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by four sons: Anthony (Meredeth) Lawver, Nathaniel (Alicia) Lawver, Benjamin (Deana) Lawver and Theodore (Kristin) Lawver; two stepsons: Bradley (Tracy) Zadow and Scott Zadow; eight grandchildren: Samantha, Joshua, Braelin, McKenna, Abigail, Eddie, Annora, and Hanne; and six great grandchildren: Reagan, Milo, Levi, Sophia, Wyatt, and Landan.
A Celebration of Life will be planned for late spring.
